‘Date Stamp’ is an example of one of the innovative solutions created by A&O Consultancy Ltd. A trade association publish an Employment Manual each year, and it is the most significant part of the membership package. The association were looking for a straightforward means of causing the old Employment Manual to expire in order to encourage membership renewal and ensure members are using the most up to date information, vital to their business success.
‘Date Stamp’ is not a typical plug-in solution. This would have entailed linking documents to a plug-in, which would have been a convoluted solution. Instead, ‘Date Stamp’ is embedded into a document - wherever the document goes, the ‘Date Stamp’ software goes with it! Nothing to administer or manage!
‘Date Stamp’ is ideal for publishers, and also user friendly to customers. Instead of an abrupt cut-off, ‘Date Stamp’ has a ‘grace’ period to warn the customer to obtain the latest version of the publication. It will also check that the system has not defaulted to a ridiculous date. When the document is finally out of date, an alternative page is displayed. The publisher can set alternative page designs for each page size in use, and also set the message displayed during the grace period. This alternative page completely obscures all aspects of the original page, and if required can be used to connect the customer to a web site URL.
